The Château de Lourmarin welcomes pianist Matouš Zukal for a piano recital as part of the Summer Music Festival programme.
With a programme bringing together Granados, Bach, Chopin, Smetana, Suk and Franck, this evening invites audiences to explore several worlds of the piano repertoire, between spiritual depth, Romantic lyricism and expressive intensity.
In the heritage setting of the château, this concert promises a moving musical moment, carried by the virtuosity of the piano and the summer atmosphere of Lourmarin.
The recital opens with Granados and El amor y la muerte, an expressive piece in which the piano reveals the full force of drama, passion and Spanish colour.
With Bach, in a transcription by Ferruccio Busoni, the evening takes on a more introspective dimension. Ich ruf zu Dir, Herr Jesu Christ offers a moment of contemplation, full of depth and spiritual intensity.
The programme continues with Chopin, Smetana, Suk and Franck, combining Romantic ardour, poetry, grand musical architecture and expressive power. Each work brings a different colour to this pianistic journey.
Did you know?
Ferruccio Busoni transcribed several of Bach’s works for piano, giving the keyboard an almost orchestral breadth. These transcriptions allow Bach’s music to be heard from a different perspective, with a great richness of tone colours and nuances.
Interval
The recital begins at 9 pm. Doors open from 8 pm, allowing audiences to enjoy the terraces of the Château de Lourmarin and share a picnic before the concert.
An ideal summer interlude combining classical music, heritage and the Luberon art of living.
