Florent Ling, pianist, for a piano recital at the Château de Lourmarin

The Château de Lourmarin welcomes pianist Florent Ling for a piano recital featured in the Summer Music Festival programme.

With a programme bringing together Chopin, Liszt and Beethoven, this evening celebrates three major figures of the piano repertoire, between Romantic ardour, spiritual power and musical depth.

In the heritage setting of the château, audiences are invited to experience an intense musical moment, carried by the virtuosity of the piano and the summer atmosphere of Lourmarin.

A recital full of fire, poetry and depth

The evening opens with Chopin’s Scherzo No. 3, a spectacular work in which virtuoso momentum meets great expressive intensity. The piano becomes, in turn, fiery, lyrical and deeply dramatic.

The programme then enters the flamboyant world of Liszt, with St Francis of Paola Walking on the Waves and Ballade No. 2. Two powerful works, filled with narrative, spiritual and visionary dimensions.

After the interval, Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 32, Op. 111 brings the concert to a close. The composer’s final sonata, this major work opens a striking listening space, between tension, meditation and modernity.

Did you know?

Beethoven’s Sonata No. 32, Op. 111 is the composer’s final piano sonata. Written between 1821 and 1822, it marks the culmination of his sonata cycle, with two highly contrasting movements: an intense first movement, followed by a more meditative final arietta.

Programme for the evening

Chopin: Scherzo No. 3

Liszt: St Francis of Paola Walking on the Waves

Liszt: Ballade No. 2

Interval

Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 32, Op. 111
