The Château de Lourmarin welcomes Trio Clara for the closing concert of the Summer Music Festival.
This evening of chamber music brings together three contrasting worlds around Beethoven, Schoenfield and Mendelssohn, between Romantic intensity, contemporary energy and passionate lyricism.
In the heritage setting of the château, piano, violin and cello enter into dialogue to offer an expressive and luminous conclusion to the musical season.
The programme opens with Beethoven’s famous “Ghost” Trio, Op. 70 No. 1. Mysterious and expressive, this work brings piano, violin and cello into dialogue in an intense, sometimes dark, always deeply inhabited atmosphere.
The first part continues with Paul Schoenfield’s Cafe Music, a lively, rhythmic piece full of character. It blends classical inspiration, jazz accents and popular colours, bringing a more contemporary energy to the programme.
After the interval, Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 2, Op. 66 in C minor brings the evening to a close. This great Romantic work, at once virtuosic, lyrical and passionate, offers an elegant and intense conclusion to the festival.
