Located on the road to the Pont Julien, in Bonnieux, in the heart of the Luberon Regional Nature Park, Château la Canorgue is one of the most iconic wine estates in the Luberon. It charms visitors with its preserved natural setting, vineyards surrounded by wooded hills, and a family history deeply rooted in the terroir.

Château la Canorgue is the first organic wine estate in the Luberon, committed to organic farming since the 1970s. This long-standing engagement makes it a true reference for lovers of characterful wines and sustainable viticulture.

A family history spanning more than two centuries

Jean-Pierre and Nathalie Margan, winemakers committed to sustainable viticulture.

The Canorgue vineyard has been a family estate passed down from generation to generation for more than two hundred years. In the 1970s, Jean-Pierre Margan, a pioneer of organic farming in the region, chose to convert the entire estate to organic methods and to showcase this exceptional terroir through high-quality wines.

His daughter Nathalie has taken over and now represents the fifth generation of winemakers. Together, they have shaped a distinctive identity, both faithful to tradition and open to the most demanding environmental practices.

What is the philosophy of Château la Canorgue ?

At La Canorgue, respect for the vine and the land is not a marketing claim but a true philosophy of life. The estate is cultivated using certified organic farming and also follows the principles of biodynamics, recognised by several leading labels.

  • Organic farming (AB) and Ecocert certification.
  • Demeter certification for biodynamics.
  • Vignobles & Découvertes label and Rhône Valley wine tourism charter.

At La Canorgue, organic farming is not a trend but a tradition.

Which wines should you taste at Château la Canorgue ?

The estate produces AOP Luberon wines and local wines that reflect the freshness, minerality and generous character of the Luberon terroirs. La Canorgue cuvées are regularly awarded by wine guides and competitions, making them a reliable choice for discovering the wines of the region.

  • Red wines: structured reds with notes of black fruit, spices and garrigue, perfect for grilled meats and slow-cooked dishes.

Signature cuvées

  • The Viognier of the estate, a highly appreciated cuvée known for its aromatic richness, often recommended as an aperitif or with refined cuisine.
  • "Coin Perdu", an iconic cuvée associated with the film A Good Year, illustrating the generous and powerful style of La Canorgue’s red wines.

An estate made famous by the cinema

Château la Canorgue became internationally famous after serving as the main filming location for A Good Year (Une grande année), directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe. Scenes shot in the vineyard and around the farmhouse helped showcase the landscapes of the Luberon to a wide international audience.

Cinema brought La Canorgue to the world, but it is the quality of its wines that makes it a true reference.

Can you visit Château la Canorgue ?

The estate is first and foremost a family property and a working winery. It is not possible to visit the château, the cellars or the winemaking facilities.

However, the tasting cellar is open to visitors who wish to discover and purchase the estate’s wines. Tastings may be free or guided depending on attendance and staff availability.

At La Canorgue, the experience is lived in the tasting cellar, close to the wines.
