Along the way, explore the villages of Les Beaumettes, Goult, Gordes, Saint-Pantaléon and many others. From 14 km to 69 km, choose your route according to your wishes and your pace. Depending on your route, you will gradually reach the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Sénanque. This Cistercian abbey, still inhabited by monks, stands in an exceptional natural setting, creating a living picture worthy of a Provençal postcard. L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the Venice of the Comtat

Have you heard of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, often nicknamed the Venice of the Comtat? If not, we can only recommend discovering this charming Provençal town with its water wheels and canals. Birthplace of the poet René Char, it is a true haven of greenery crossed by several branches of the Sorgue river, whose emerald waters still turn the old water wheels, reminders of its industrial past.

For a romantic walk, we suggest discovering nearly fifteen water wheels along a dedicated route available at the tourist office of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. You can wander at your own pace through the picturesque streets, admire the façades and explore the small boutiques that give the town its poetic atmosphere.

The 14th century Italian historian, humanist and poet Francesco Petrarch fell under the spell of the Vaucluse and its spring, which inspired his Canzoniere. The Petrarque gardens in Fontaine de Vaucluse are a place where nature and literature meet.

Here he met Laure de Noves, for whom he felt a deep and legendary passion. This impossible love inspired 366 poems in the Canzoniere. He would come to Fontaine de Vaucluse to meditate and write. Inspired by Petrarch’s love for Laure, these gardens evoke the beauty and melancholy of 14th century sonnets. Walking through them feels like entering a world where words take root and bloom in countless colors. The rustling leaves and the gentle murmur of the mysterious spring of the Sorgue add a touch of magic, creating a deeply romantic setting in the footsteps of Petrarch, perfect for sharing a moment together.
