This stone building, the oldest part of which dates back to the 7th century, belonged to the monks of Sénanque until the 13th century. Under the protection of Saint Augustin, the instigator of group work, a flour mill operated here. It was renovated in the 18th century, and the Calavon water supply canal already existed. The walls house an oil mill and a flour mill.
It lies at the heart of the Calavon Valley, a meandering river that irrigates the entire Apt basin as far as the Durance. The landscape is open and framed by the reassuring presence of the Luberon to the south and the Monts de Vaucluse to the north. The surrounding landscape is a vast patchwork of vineyards, separated from time to time by cypress hedges that create vistas. Among the vines and a few cherry orchards, the olive trees are discreet to say the least. You have to follow the ancient ‘Via Domitia’ along the D900 to the village of Les Beaumettes for the olive trees to be less shy. In the opposite direction, 3 km to the west, the path joins the hamlet of Coustellet. Created by the Groupement des Oléiculteurs de Vaucluse
